KATSUSTUCK 2012: AKA…OSHIT I MADE ASK THE HEIRESS CRY

I don’t mean to delete all of Lilly’s text here. Only a few people will probably see my post anyway. But Katsu was a different sort of con for me, and I wanted to write my version of (part) of this story.

I’ve known Lilly since Katsu 2009, and there are SO MANY pre-Homestuck memories of fun I have with her. We were the Gundam girls at the ball that year, we rolled in the same RP circle for a long time, she did my Belarus make-up for my Hetalia ‘Everyone’s A Little Bit Racist’ skit…lots of good stuff. And drunk texts. (oh, the drunk texts.)

Then she went to Australia and for months, I didn’t really see her online a lot, different time zones and all. When I finally did, we caught up, and eventually came to the realization we both liked Homestuck. This is always a nice realization to reach, since sometimes telling people you like Homestuck is like telling people you have AIDS. I’ll never forget our first convo about shipping:

Ginny: I’m really into Feferi x Eridan!
Lilly: …..I’m….REALLY NOT BUT THAT IS OKAY!

But that was always the cool thing with Lilly in fandom. Even if we didn’t ship the same stuff, it was always fine. She even commissioned my weird ass Gundam OTP! I really should have recognized her art as being Ask The Heiress right away when I first started seeing it around…but it took me a while. And I soon realized O HAY SHE DOESN’T HATE ERIDAN ANYMORE. Then eventually….This happened:

I get really embarrassed about my RP shenanigans sometimes, and they really are silly and not usually FINE LITERATURE or anything like that. But I’ve been lucky to have Lilly as a partner, ESPECIALLY as I was going through my gradschool course and was stressed to the max. It was a GREAT stress relief, and often waiting for her RP responses helped keep me sane at the computer as I was writing the answers to a million essay questions in between. (I got an A in the class, btw.) And because Lilly is so cool and we knew eachother OOC, it was great to be able to pause things at will, vent, and the likes. I was going through a lot of tough shit IRL and she was always very helpful and wanting to cheer me up, which I appreciated.

Eventually it became clear that Lilly was coming to Katsu. And I joked about doing Eridan. And then suddenly….it was actually a thing that was happening. For serious, as anyone who follows my blog should know, I have been HORRIFICALLY insecure about doing Eridan. I’m the OPPOSITE of how I see him body type wise. But Lilly really wanted me to…so I went through with it.

Then, a few weeks before the con, I found an Aquarius heart necklace in china town. I soon got the idea in my head that it would be fun to give it to her during the photoshoot, as a sort of “Thank you and welcome back to the USA” thing. So I got some flowers and a box of Spongebob chocolates, and made plans to pass them off to a friend and have them give them to me at the shoot. Shit kinda happened Saturday morning, and I was never able to…so I had to HIDE THEM IN LILLY’S OWN BAG I can’t believe she didn’t find them…But yeah, it finally happened, I was not expecting tears!

And then we went and picked up the commission from Emi. OKAY I ADMIT PART OF IT IS I JUST WANTED TO SEE EMI DRAW WEDDING FEFERIDAN. …but yes, I knew Lilly would like it and I wanted her to have it! Her reaction to seeing Emi for the first time was rather LOL.

Anyway, TL;DR, Lilly thanks for being a cool chick, I really appreciate you as a friend, in and out of Hamsteak. Sorry I made you cry, AT LEAST THE MAKE UP DIDN’T RUN. XD
