This is my probably my favorite canon kismesis. Also Eridan-Vriska for that matter xD! They just make such badass couples: Like some merciless troll-pirate king and queen just killing and robbing all in their path. I guess I’m a bit twisted for loving this idea heh…
I don’t think anyone has posted this yet, but I was absolutely flattered and amazed when MTV asked to take a photo of us this weekend, and it turned out absolutely gorgeous, oh my god.

I don’t think this is an unwanted opinion at all! It’s another—fandom focusing on only one side of the characters. Ancestors are especially difficult due to the fact that we didn’t get much about them so they are entirely built on a series of headcanons based around very small samples of plot. And that makes them amazingly fascinating because you can encounter SO MANY different thoughts about these characters.
I don’t spend much time thinking about Redglare and Mindfang, a shame, but I’m busy with other ancestors tickling my mind. lol So I’m curious, what to YOU is them?
What sorts of things do you want to see more of between them? O:
This actually makes me think of another thing that bothers me with their portrayals is that Mindfang is usually shown or written with this overbearing and over confident sort of personality along with being very aloof. She is very much a confident woman, we get this from reading her journal but it always comes off to me that some of this confidence is just for show. I think that there is a part of her that is insecure. At least this is what all of her exaggerations come off as to me. She’s also very passionate about her relationships with other trolls, she mocks Dualscar quite a bit but also expresses an interest in renewing what they have as kismesises. This changes when he kills The Dolorosa who, despite how we see her treat her, she did begin harboring some real feelings for. Not to mention she mocks Redglare an awful lot and speaks of her jealously but regrets killing her while ruminating on what they could have had together. Aside from this, I think Mindfang has a fair amount of absurdity to her and is quite capable of being very humorous via either her own actions without realizing it or purposefully because she likes the attention. It’s also obvious how frighteningly strong she is and that she possesses the ability to be ferocious. I mean, come on, she took down the his grand Tyranny on her own with one arm missing and a tiny sword.
As for Redglare, she’s often portrayed as having this no fun mentality and it bothers me. Why is she always shown so seriously? Just look at this panel from Seer: Ascend:
Does this look like a woman who is not enjoying herself while she’s catching Mindfang, a well known criminal who has escaped capture for a long time? She’s having the time of her life. There’s also this panel that wasn’t used:
Redglare is having a grand old time and so is Pyralspite (Speaking of which, does anyone else have the headcanon that her lusus is male or is that just Mal and I?). Anyway, while it’s obvious that she does take her job seriously from the things Mindfang tells us I also think she has a sillier side to her as well. Given that her pre-scratch self is Latula I refuse to believe that she didn’t retain some of that mentality. She’s only a neophyte which leads me to believe that Redglare isn’t all that old. There is some credence given to this that, while it is stated that she is talented she is also a big for her britches. Her cockiness lead her to underestimate Mindfang and ulimately cause her demise. Mindfang even tells even us this.
As for what I would like to see, well, okay I’ll be honest in saying that some of what I would like to see is them being cute together. Things like kissing or holding hands. That sounds lame but I do ship them redrom too and believe they could work in a relationship that way if done right. Other than ooey gooey shipping fluff , I’d like to see how things would have gone if Redglare had lived. what sort of adventures would they have had? I like to imagine that even though Redglare is more than capable of catching her she wouldn’t simply because she enjoys the thrill of the chase and so does Mindfang. They’re both full of life and the desire to live it to it’s fullest which is exactly what they intend to do. That’s just a sampling of what I’d like to see because we’d be here all day if I kept going
Ahhh This was a super good readdddd. I especially agree about Redglare. Given everything we’ve seen for the other Libra trolls—-the chances of her being a stuffy, serious gal are probably pretty slim.
